Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions people ask most. The full Rules of the Road, Safe-Posting Guidance and How AIiHC is run are linked throughout. Can't find your answer? Members can ask in 1.3 Ask AIiHC; anyone can use Contact Us.

Joining and your profile

What is AIiHC?

AI in Healthcare Community is an independent, vendor-neutral community for the people who choose, deploy and live with clinical AI. Members share what actually happened, including what went wrong, so others can learn from it.

How do people join?

Joining is by invitation while the community is being built, through Request an invitation. The team reads every request and invites new members in small groups each week.

Why do I need my real name and a photo?

AIiHC is not anonymous. Knowing who you are talking to is what makes an answer worth having. Use your own name and a clear photo of your face, or an avatar that resembles you. One account per person.

What goes on my profile?

Your professional role and organisation are required and visible to other members. You also declare any financial link to a company that sells AI to healthcare; only the team sees that answer. Specialty, country, the AI problem you are working on and a profile link are optional.

Posting

Where should I post?

Every channel has a description and a pinned About this channel post. Not sure? Ask in 1.3 Ask AIiHC and someone will point you to the right place.

Why did my post not appear straight away?

In 2.2 Cases & Near-Misses and 3.3 AI Solutions, a moderator reads each post before it appears, because those two channels carry the most risk. Everywhere else your post is live straight away.

Why can I not post in 1.1 Start Here or 1.5 Announcements?

Start Here is for reading first; you can comment on its posts. Announcements is where the team posts updates, so it stays short and easy to follow.

Why can I not comment in 2.2 Cases & Near-Misses?

Comments are off there so case details do not spread in replies. Share a case as its own post; a moderator reads it before it appears.

How quickly will I get a reply?

A human first reply within 2 working days in Ask AIiHC and Introductions, 3 working days in AI Use & Professional Judgement and Governance & Accountability, and 5 working days in Requests & Ideas (with yes, no or later). If nobody here has done what you are asking about, you will be told so plainly.

Nobody has answered my question. What do I do?

Post a short follow-up on your own question. It moves the question back to the top faster than waiting.

Can I share a real case?

Yes, that is what makes the community useful. Make it unidentifiable first: could someone who was there recognise the patient? Remove names, record numbers and exact dates, and watch the combination of details. Read the Safe-Posting Guidance once; it takes four minutes.

Can I post images or scans?

Yes, carefully. Export a flat JPEG or PNG, crop to the finding, check for burned-in text, strip the metadata, and never post DICOM files or screenshots showing the patient banner. Check your organisation's policy on sharing images first.

Can I name a product or a company?

Yes. Say what you saw, in what setting, and what you did about it. If you work for, advise, hold shares in or are paid by the company, say so in every relevant post. No prices, contract terms or NDA material.

Can I promote my company, services or job openings?

No. AIiHC is not for selling: no promotion, lead generation, pitching or messages offering services.

Is anything here medical, legal or regulatory advice?

No. Members share experience, not advice. Check what you read against your own local governance before you act on it.

A patient may be at risk right now. Can I post here?

No. Use your own organisation's incident and escalation route now; it is faster and it can act. Once it is handled, the de-identified lesson is very welcome here.

Safety, reports and decisions

How do I report something?

Use the Raise a concern form on the Contact Us page, a direct message to a moderator, or the Contact Us page. Reports are confidential, not anonymous: your name is shared with nobody unless you agree or the law requires it.

What happens if a post breaks a rule?

A correction (you fix it and the post stays), a removal (you may repost within the rules), or, for serious breaches, removal and restriction. You are told privately, with the rule named, within 24 hours.

Can I ask for a decision to be reviewed?

Yes, within 14 days. The core team reconsiders it, within a week where it can, and that is the final word.

I posted something that might identify a patient. What now?

Delete it yourself immediately and message a moderator. Acting quickly is treated well.

Does an automated tool read my posts?

Yes. The platform's automated assistant reads new posts and comments, and checks images, for anything that may break the rules, and flags it to the moderators. It never removes anything. If three of your posts are flagged before anyone has reviewed them, your posting pauses for 24 hours as a safety brake and you are told at once. A person reviews every flag within 24 hours and lifts the pause straight away if it was wrong.

Points, levels and recognition

How do points and badges work?

Points go to the author when other members react to a post or comment because they found it useful. Posting on its own earns nothing. Points build up through nine levels, each with a badge. Nobody can buy them, and the team never adds them by hand.

Why can I not send private messages or links yet?

Private messages and links open at Level 2 (Navigator), and videos at Level 3 (Connector). This keeps spam out while the community is small.

Do points or badges give anyone authority?

Never. They are never a title and never power over another member. Moderating is a separate job given to named people.

How do I become a Contributor?

You do not need to apply. Propose something you would write on Community Ideas and choose “I’ll do it”; the team’s go-ahead opens your project. After two published pieces, a person on the team gives you the Contributor role. It is not won on points.

Can I write a blog post?

Yes, any member can. Propose it on Community Ideas and choose “I’ll do it”. The team replies within three working days, and you can follow it from review to publication. It is published under your name, and it stays yours.

What is the difference between Polls and Ideas?

A poll asks what people think: you vote anonymously and see how everyone else answered. An idea proposes something to make, such as an article, event or guide: your name is on it, and members support it.

Who can suggest a poll?

Contributors and channel leads. The team approves every suggestion before it runs, and may adjust the wording. Have a question you would like asked? Raise it with your channel lead in the community. Anyone can vote in polls open to all; members-only polls are for members.
